Velocix Live Streaming

Here's how it works:

The live audio or video is captured using appropriate recording equipment. The recording is encoded on the fly into the required streaming format. Velocix supports both Adobe Flash and Microsoft Windows Media video formats and WMA, MP3 and Flash for audio. The encoded output is then fed into the Velocix Digital Asset Delivery Network where it is propagated to multiple high performance media servers deployed globally around the network and immediate re-broadcasting begins.

Requests from the audience are made via a website link and are intelligently routed to one of these media servers, based on proximity and load balancing to ensure an optimal playback experience for the requester.

Factors to consider:

Firstly, you need to determine the maximum upload speed of the connection you will have from the source venue. Testing of this connection prior to the event and provision of a back-up connection is recommended. You will also need to consider the connectivity that your audience will most likely have and the operating systems that they might be using on their PCs. These factors will help you determine the encoding rate and format to use.

You will need to estimate the anticipated size of your audience. We need this information to ensure that we have provisioned sufficient bandwidth capacity on our network to meet your requirements. Also, you will need to understand this to be able to manage distribution costs associated with the event.

The cost of live streaming is dependent on three factors: Duration, quality required and the number of viewers.
