Velocix Network Architecture
The Velocix network is built on a multi-tier architecture. Core management and utility services are deployed in replicated Service Nodes. Below the Service Nodes in the hierarchy, Storage Nodes provide a highly resilient replicated content store. Finally, Delivery Nodes are responsible for high throughput distribution of content to users and between caches. All network components are securely managed from the Velocix Network Operations Center.

Service Nodes
Velocix Service Nodes are deployed centrally on core Tier 1 backbone networks. These nodes contain the core network management, routing and cache selection algorithms and functions. Each Service Node is architected for high availability and high transactional and data throughput.
Storage Nodes
Velocix Storage Nodes provide an origin storage facility and consist of multiple content storage modules that automatically replicate content between themselves.
Delivery Nodes
Velocix Delivery Nodes are distributed at the network edge to provide low latency, high throughput data delivery. These nodes deliver content directly to end users, as well as replicating it to local caches.
Delivery Nodes form a fully meshed, multi-source network. They can acquire content from neighbours as well as Storage Nodes, rather than following a strictly hierarchical content replication structure. This allows for much faster delivery as content is available from multiple sources.
